From the Pages of Star Wars Insider: Darth Vader Returns in an Excerpt from The Fiction Collection

Darth Vader has no patience for posturing. He has no interest in baseless threats to Imperial rule. And he certainly has no fascination with training exercises.

In an excerpt from the short story “Orientation” by John Jackson Miller — part of the new Star Wars Insider Fiction Collection compilation featuring Legends tales and modern lore — with art by Brian Rood, we find the Dark Lord of the Sith aboard the Imperial cruiser Defiance, where Commandant Pell Baylo is trying his best to impress the new leaders of the Empire with varying degrees of success. Ultimately, Vader’s attentions lie with a young cadet whose anger is palpable…

How Judith Leiber Turned Fan-Favorite Astromech R2-D2 into Fine Art

Loyal astromech R2-D2 has been called many things: Nearsighted scrap pile. Artooie. Clone Wars veteran. Rebel hero.

Jana Matheson, the chief creative officer of Judith Leiber Couture, humbly offers up her own take from this galaxy: cultural icon. The designer and her team have spent more than a year creating a fitting tribute to the squat droid that routinely helped keep the Republic, the Rebellion, and the Resistance out of trouble throughout the Skywalker saga.

The final piece is functional fine art at its best, a feat of engineering and artistic execution worthy of the droid’s status in pop culture. But it’s more than the thousands of dazzling hand set European and 24K gold crystals that set this high-end handbag in Artoo’s image apart from the crowd. Beyond its beauty, each one

How Disney Cruise Line’s “Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge” Will Take Fans Around the Galaxy

Danny Handke was an ‘80s kid. As such, he grew up watching the original Star Wars trilogy on VHS. And he liked it well enough. But it would take a little more time, and something beyond watching the movies on a small TV for the galaxy far, far away to truly take hold.

“It wasn’t really until The Phantom Menace came out [in 1999] that I became a really huge fan of Star Wars,” he tells StarWars.com. “As much as I loved the original trilogy, being in the theater and being part of that event just meant a lot. And so after that, it’s been every film and every animated series. Just as much as I can take in.”

It follows that the experience of seeing Episode I in the
