Carl Weathers Passes Away

If he only played Apollo Creed, that would be enough to make Carl Weathers immortal for generations of moviegoers. But he gave us so much more, including the essential Greef Karga in The Mandalorian.

Weathers, forever a member of the Lucasfilm family, died Thursday. He was 76.

Born January 14, 1948, Weathers first played linebacker in the NFL, signing with the Oakland Raiders. He then turned to acting and, in a career that spanned over 50 years, appeared in several classic films and series of various genres. He portrayed the iconic boxer Apollo Creed, heavyweight champion, in the first four Rocky films; over the course of the series, he would evolve from Rocky’s rival to best friend and trainer, creating a beloved character that would spawn the spinoff Creed trilogy. Quiz: How Well Do You Know Your Clones?

Some might say Jango Fett’s clones are all alike, but we know better. Numbered by the Kaminoans who created them and expendable in the eyes of Chancellor-turned-Emperor Sheev Palpatine, the clone troopers each have their own personalities, unique armor, and even tattoos and haircuts that show off their individual style. But they do still all share the same cloned genetics. Can you tell the difference? Take the latest StarWars.com quiz to know for sure.

This party’s just getting started.

Mace Windu has proven to be one of Star Wars’ most popular Jedi. From hanging out with Yoda on the Jedi Council, to besting Jango Fett, to taking on Darth Sidious, few guardians of peace and justice have left as great an impact. Little is known about Mace’s younger years, however, and thanks to Marvel that will soon change.

The House of Ideas’ Star Wars: Mace Windu miniseries kicks off next month, dialing back the clock for a Mace story set before the Clone Wars — and before the purple-sabered Windu was even a Jedi Master. In StarWars.com’s first look at issue #1, Mace arrives at the
