Tight-knit, torn apart, or recently reunited — we meet twins of all kinds in Star Wars.

Most recently, the Aniseya twins played a large role in The Acolyte, first revealed in the premiere episode “Lost/Found,” where we learned the assassin Mae also had a twin sister, a skilled meknek (and former Padawan) named Osha. Separated after a tragic fire on their home planet Brendok — a planet with twin moons, no less — the sisters each believed the other had perished until Mae resurfaced to take revenge on the Jedi she blamed for the death of her family.

Twin characters — and their unique connections to each other — as well as twin imagery can be found in many Star Wars stories, from animated shorts to the film that started it all.

Our answer? To witness the end of the Empire. And a new Marvel maxi-series, Battle of Jakku — Insurgency Rising, arrives later this year to bring us all along for the ride. When Leslye Headland set out to tell the story of The Acolyte, she wasn’t intending to make the Jedi antagonists in the story of Osha and Mae Aniseya. “My goal was to see Jedi as human beings, or as aliens with the emotions we ascribe to humans,” Headland tells StarWars.com. “I wanted to make them a little bit more fallible.”

There’s an elegance to the brutality at play in the lightsaber battle that leads to the Stranger’s unmasking in episode 5 of The Acolyte, “Night.”

From the start of the battle, we’re thrust into the clashing sabers of the visiting Jedi on Khofar meeting the masked foe in the forest. Each moment had to be carefully choreographed and shot in a way to accentuate the ferocity and peril for the characters while keeping the production perfectly safe for the dedicated cast members and stunt doubles.
