Future Lucasfilm Projects Revealed

Today at The Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day event, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy announced a staggering number of new films, series, and surprises that will expand the Star Wars galaxy like never before.

Rogue Squadron

The next Star Wars feature film will be Rogue Squadron — directed by Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman franchise). The story will introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing, high-speed thrill-ride, and move the saga into the future era of the galaxy.

“It’s been a lifelong dream as a filmmaker to one day make a great fighter pilot film,” said Jenkins. “As the daughter of a great fighter pilot myself, some of the best memories of my life are of seeing my father’s squadron take

From the Pages of Star Wars Insider: Ahmed Best on his Time in the Galaxy

Star Wars Insider issue 199 is headed to a newsstand or mailbox near you, featuring, among other stories, an exciting new interview with actor Ahmed Best! Today, StarWars.com has an exclusive sneak peek of the article, written by Mark Newbold, in which Best takes a look back on his experience playing the charmingly clumsy Gungan Jar Jar Binks and reflects on his recent role in the Star Wars Kids series Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge.

Star Wars Insider: [In Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge] you performed a role rather than presenting the show as Ahmed Best. Were you happier with that?

Ahmed Best: Yeah, I much preferred playing a character. A big part of it was folding into the mythology in a way that made it the star of the show. I love the

The Makers of Star Wars: The High Republic: Justina Ireland on A Test of Courage

As we prepare to enter a new era of Star Wars storytelling with Star Wars: The High Republic, StarWars.com sits down with the five authors — Charles Soule, Justina Ireland, Claudia Gray, Daniel José Older, and Cavan Scott — penning the first round of books and comics. “The Makers of Star Wars: The High Republic” will run weekly through the end of the year to celebrate the January 2021 launch of the storytelling epic.

Spoiler warning: The article contains plot details from A Test of Courage.

It all started with an idea back in 2014 from Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain to bring together a group of authors to define a new era in the Star Wars galaxy. In 2019, creative retreats began at Skywalker Ranch with the five authors, Lucasfilm Publishing, and Lucasfilm

Boba Fett is Back: Temuera Morrison on the Return of a Star Wars Icon

When Temuera Morrison first suited up as Boba Fett for The Mandalorian, it was a long time coming for the actor.

“There were moments when I put the armor on and I was looking at [executive producers] Dave [Filoni] and Jon [Favreau], and the expression on their faces just said it all,” he tells StarWars.com. “It felt good. It felt right. It felt like, ‘Yes, I should be wearing this costume.’ And it gave me this sense of, ‘I’m back.’”

Morrison, of course, played bounty hunter Jango Fett in 2002’s Star Wars: Attack of the Clones; as the story goes, Jango served as the genetic blueprint for the clone army of the Republic, and he requested one unaltered clone to raise as a son: Boba, who would go on to
