“Imagine Yourself Doing Impossible Things”: A Conversation with Kelly Marie Tran for AANHPI Heritage Month

Growing up as a child of immigrants, a career in entertainment seemed impossible for Kelly Marie Tran. And in 2017, Kelly Marie Tran became a part of the galaxy far, far away when she made her debut as Rose Tico — the first major Star Wars character played by an Asian American — in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Her breakthrough role came with its own successes and struggles, however, many of which she still grapples with today.

Tran agreed to have an open discussion with StarWars.com for Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month about her journey. As an Asian American woman myself, we were able to sit down

Flash forward to a week before the con and you still haven’t created the Twi’lek’s lekku. What’s a last-minute cosplayer to do? Have hope, of course! There are still plenty of ways to create a quick and easy cosplay. Here are four last-minute DIY costuming tips to guide you on your cosplay mission.

1. No-sew? No problem!

The Book of Boba Fett gave us exciting new characters and new costumes that can easily be replicated! To capture Cobb Vanth’s swagger, pair brown cargo pants with a long sleeve maroon shirt. Use a scrap of fabric for his scarf, and complete the ensemble with

Clones at 20 | Hayden Christensen Looks Back at His First Steps as Anakin Skywalker

The middle chapter of the prequel trilogy, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, arrived May 16, 2002. To celebrate the movie’s 20th anniversary, StarWars.com presents Clones at 20, a special series of interviews, editorials, and more.

As it turns out, the first person to duel Anakin Skywalker wasn’t a Sith Lord, a strange alien, or some other powerful villain. Rather, it was someone from our own galaxy.

“I remember when I got the phone call saying that I got the part,” Hayden Christensen says. “I was still in bed, actually, in my apartment in Vancouver at the time. I recall walking out after I got off the phone, just sort of stunned and in disbelief by the news, walking into the living room where my roommate was. He was aware that I was waiting

Clones at 20 | Costume Designer Trisha Biggar Reflects on Her Most Challenging Film

The middle chapter of the prequel trilogy, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, arrived May 16, 2002. To celebrate the movie’s 20th anniversary, StarWars.com presents Clones at 20, a special series of interviews, editorials, and more.

Costume designer Trisha Biggar joined the production staff defining the look of the Star Wars prequel films in 1997 with an affinity for history and a pedigree in costuming for the theater. Fresh off a brief stint working on The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles with Lucasfilm, she led a department of about 60 costuming professionals to create Queen Amidala’s opulent wardrobe and devolve the Jedi robes that had first been introduced in Star Wars: A New Hope.

But Biggar’s biggest challenge in the eight years she spent working on the trilogy of films chronicling Anakin Skywalker’s transformation into Darth

Clones at 20 | Rob Coleman on Bringing Yoda, Dexter Jettster, and More to Digital Life

The middle chapter of the prequel trilogy, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, arrived May 16, 2002. To celebrate the movie’s 20th anniversary, StarWars.com presents Clones at 20, a special series of interviews, editorials, and more.

On July 14, 1999, Rob Coleman attended the London premiere of the first Star Wars prequel, The Phantom Menace, before heading to an after party. As animation director on the film, Coleman led many of its innovations involving digital characters, including early uses of motion-capture for the fully-CG Jar Jar Binks, battle droids, and more. It was years of hard work, but now was a chance to celebrate the release of what was probably the most highly-anticipated movie ever at that point, and a significant leap in visual effects and animation.

Coleman was enjoying the gathering well enough

Clones at 20 | Concept Artist Roel Robles on the Design Origins of Count Dooku’s Unique Lightsaber Hilt

The middle chapter of the prequel trilogy, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, arrived May 16, 2002. To celebrate the movie’s 20th anniversary, StarWars.com presents Clones at 20, a special series of interviews, editorials, and more.

Movie audiences first met the villainous Count Dooku (Christopher Lee) 20 years ago in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. This Jedi-turned-Sith was not only the leader of the growing Separatist movement, but one of the most feared swordsmen in the galaxy. In the novelization of Attack of the Clones written by R.A. Salvatore, Dooku’s fighting style is described as “balanced” and “arcane…more front and back, thrust and riposte, than the typical circular movements currently employed by most of the Jedi.”

The character’s imposing abilities were matched by a distinctive curved lightsaber hilt that caught the attention of many fans.
