How ILM Put “the Empire” in Empire State Building

With all that happens in New York City, it can be hard to impress residents of the Big Apple. (I should know — I’m a native.) But last night, passersby in Midtown might’ve been surprised by what they saw if they looked up: X-wings, TIE fighters, and more from the Star Wars galaxy, all traveling across the Empire State Building.

As part of Lucasfilm’s month-long “Imperial March” consumer products campaign, and starting the “March to May the 4th,” the iconic New York skyscraper hosted a dynamic light show, which saw classic Star Wars moments and new visual effects featured on the 1930 building’s beautiful Art Deco facade. The 5-minute sequence was created by Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm’s visual effects house; for all of ILM’s legendary work, this was a project

Darth Vader Meets Mount Fuji on Striking Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025 Key Art

Next year, X-wings, TIE fighters, Jedi, and Sith will make the jump to a special rendezvous point: Japan.

Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025 is set for April 18-20, 2025, at the Makuhari Messe. This will be the first Star Wars Celebration held in Japan since 2008, and today StarWars.com is excited to reveal the show’s official key art — a beautiful image blending iconography of the galaxy far, far away with that of its host country. Check it out below.

The key art has been created in the traditional Japanese black ink painting style known as sumi-e, with Darth Vader placed in the foreground. Brush strokes extend from the Sith Lord to the branches of a cherry blossom tree, leading to AT-ATs, X-wings, and TIE fighters. The Rising Sun of the Japanese flag

The Acolyte Trailer Breaks Lucasfilm Records

Thanks to Star Wars fans, the trailer launch for The Acolyte has been one to remember.

Released yesterday, the trailer for The Acolyte garnered 51.3 million views in its first 24 hours. This is a new digital-only record for any Lucasfilm Disney+ series, surpassing every trailer for The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka. We’re grateful for your support, and can’t wait for you to experience the series.

The trailer introduced several new characters, and gave fans their first look at the High Republic era — 100 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, and previously explored only in publishing and animation — in live-action. In addition, the official key art for The Acolyte was revealed alongside the trailer, and it

First Look at the Haunting Darth Maul – Black, White & Red #1

“You have been well trained, my young apprentice. They will be no match for you.” So said Palpatine to Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. But he wasn’t talking about the Final Occultation.

Earlier this year, StarWars.com officially revealed Marvel’s upcoming Star Wars: Darth Maul – Black, White & Red, a four-issue miniseries starring the titular Sith Lord. The latest in the House of Ideas’ series of stark, atmospheric, and often violent tales, Darth Maul – Black, White & Red will feature new creative teams with each installment, putting their own spin on one of Star Wars’ most iconic villains.

Issue #1, written by Benjamin Percy and pencilled by Stefano Raffaele, sees Darth Maul dispatched by his master to investigate a prison ship that has gone offline; Maul finds

The Acolyte Characters Revealed — First Look

A mysterious new warrior is fighting her way into the Star Wars galaxy.

To celebrate our first look at the teaser trailer and key art for The Acolyte, the new Star Wars live-action series from showrunner Leslye Headland debuting June 4 on Disney+, the official Databank has new intel on the key characters we’ve just glimpsed.

There’s Mae, a masked marvel who isn’t afraid to go toe-to-toe with a Jedi.

Brand-new entries also includes details on the protectors of the peace, Jedi Master Sol and Jedi Master Indara, joining Master Kelnacca — who we first saw as he walked Headland onto the Star Wars Celebration Europe panel stage in London last year — and an updated entry for fan-favorite Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh.

“Whatever You Think The Acolyte Is, It’s Not”: Star Wars Series Creator Leslye Headland Revels in the First Teaser Trailer

Like a red lightsaber zinging through a serene forest, the first teaser for The Acolyte has arrived.

“Vernestra Rwoh opening a door might be my favorite part of the trailer,” showrunner Leslye Headland tells StarWars.com. “It’s like ‘What’s up? Listen, I haven’t opened a door in 100 years,’” Headlands says with a laugh.

The mystery-thriller, which debuts June 4 on Disney+, upends the typical Jedi hero tale for a story focused on the dark side disrupting a Jedi Order in its prime. And Headland can’t wait to show us more.

The creator of the newest Star Wars live-action series first discovered the galaxy far, far away as a teenager watching the Special Editions on the big screen and immersing herself in the expanded universe of books, like Timothy Zahn’s Heir to the
